In this video I go over how to check your engine for internal damage. This includes inspection of the cylinder walls, piston tops, intake and exhaust valves. This is also a great way to check for carbon build up on the valve stems. A special tool like a borescope is needed to inspect the internals of an engine. One specific scope is ideal for this as the camera can be moved 270 degrees allowing optimal viewing of the internals of the cylinder.

The Teslong Articulating 270 degree scope is the BEST camera scope for this inspection: https://amzn.to/3ewbr2I

A normal borescope is great but the Articulating scope offers amazing control.
There are quite a few symptoms that could occur when there is an internal engine problem. If the cylinder walls are damaged due to scoring you can lose compression and burn more oil than normal.
If the intake or exhaust valves are not sealing this would lead to a power loss, misfire, detonation, and many other symptoms. Checking to see if the valves and valve seats are good can be easily performed with the Teslong Scope. Burnt valves can easily be spotted.
I have also seen damaged items inside of a cylinder from metal objects making it into the cylinder and fusing to the head or piston. This inspection is a great way to rule out internal engine damage.
